Askett is having an Open Gardens day in aid or Rennie Grove Hospice Care from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday 3rd July 2021. Askett is a Conservation Area village lying in a beautiful setting just below the Chiltern Hills. There are 15 Grade 2 listed buildings in the village including The Three Crowns public house which will be open.

9 gardens of different size, design and planting will be open all within easy walking distance. There will be free parking, a plant and book stall, tombola and a junior eco-stall. Dogs on leads are welcome and there is wheelchair access. Teas with outdoor seating will be served at one of the gardens and there will be an additional ‘Grab n’Go’ facility with additional seating.

Getting there.

Red – road closed from Askett Roundabout on the A4010 to the village centre.

Blue– recommended route from B4009

By Car : it is advised to approach Askett from the B4009 Lower Icknield Way. The centre of the village will be closed to through traffic so please follow the diversion signs. There are two car parks, you will be marshalled into the parking.

By train : nearest station is Monks Risborough. On leaving the platform turn left and walk along Crowbrook Road for about half a mile to the village.

By bus : route 300 between Aylesbury and High Wycombe. Alight at the Askett Roundabout stop by Coco Tamarind restaurant. Walk into the village with the restaurant on the right.

By foot and cycle : Askett is just over one mile from the centre of Princes Risborough following the Aylesbury Road (A4010).

Covid-19 Implications

The health and safety of our visitors, open garden owners and helpers is our top priority and we will monitor and follow government advice throughout the planning of the event. Examples of some of the measures under consideration if they are required are listed below, please note that nothing is confirmed and we’ll update you when we know more:

  • Modified layouts to reduce crowding and facilitate social distancing
  • Additional open catering area
  • Paper cups and plates instead of china to minimise cleaning requirements
  • Enhanced cleaning regimes
  • Socially distanced queuing and / or one-way systems (particularly in covered areas, catering and toilet facilities)
  • Hand sanitiser points will be available for all exhibitors and visitors
  • Mask wearing if required in indoor spaces
